What happens when you book a Vespa with us. Rights, duties, cancellations, damages, insurance. Plain language. Italian version is the legally binding master.
Who we are, what we offer
VespAway, Via dei Mille 12, 07040 Stintino (SS), Italy. VAT [TBA]. We operate as scooter rental and organise guided tours with certified guide. Operating season: May to October.
Requirements to rent
Minimum age 18. Valid A1, A, A2 licence (125cc requires A1; 50cc also AM). B (car) licence accepted for 125cc if obtained before 30 September 1999, or after if you passed A1 integrative exams.
Valid ID. Credit card in the rider's name (for deposit pre-authorisation, if active). Minimum scooter riding knowledge — if you've never ridden, we run a quick test before departure.
What the price includes
Original Piaggio Vespa, premium helmet, RCA + theft/fire insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, local map, replacement vehicle within 30 minutes if breakdown.
Does NOT include: fuel (refill at pump price), ferries, paid parking, fines, damages caused by alcohol/drug driving (full insurance exclusion).
Cancellation and changes
Free cancellation up to 7 days before pickup. 100% refund on original payment method within 7 working days.
Cancellation between 7 and 3 days: 50% refund. Less than 3 days or no-show: no refund.
Date changes: free up to 24 hours before pickup, subject to availability. Price difference at your charge.
Damages and excess
In case of accident or damage, insurance covers everything above €500 excess. You can reduce excess to zero with +€10/day ("full protection").
Theft: covered if you used the provided lock. Without lock = theft at your charge. Photos of the parked Vespa (with chain visible) are proof.
What you CANNOT do
Carry more passengers than allowed (Primavera 125 = 2). Take the Vespa off Sardinia (no ferry transport without written authorisation). Sublease. Drive under alcohol/drugs (zero tolerance — automatic report + full insurance exclusion).
Jurisdiction
Any dispute: Court of Sassari, Italy. Applicable law: Italian. EU consumers retain rights from their country's Consumer Code.
Complaints
Write to info@vespaway.it: we reply within 5 days. EU consumers can use the EU Commission ODR platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
